The Uni Revue

Thursday 22nd May

After a pretty hard and busy day at work, I was off to town at 5.00pm to Hobart to meet some of my old work mates. We were on our way to watch the Uni Revue. We had booked and paid for our tickets weeks ago and was told that it was to be a great night had by all. I left work at 5.00pm and headed straight into town, parked the car and met everyone at a tiny pub called Joes Garage. This pub is pretty amazing if you are really into cars and anything motoring. All over the walls and floor are car parts of all descriptions. The tables in the place are old car engines with glass placed ontop of them. I thought that it was all pretty well done really.

When it hit 6pm we then headed over to the Theatre Royal restaurant which is situated near the Hobart Hospital. We sat down and ordered our meals. Emilija and I had a voucher from the Entertainment Book which was great, so without sounding like scabs we used these and saved ourselves some money so did another couple of people that went along because it was 2 for the price of 1. Good book that really.....

Eight o'clock hit us pretty quickly really and it was time to make our way over to the theatre. The night was pretty cold so we were all looking forward to getting inside and sitting down as quickly as possible. Not long after we sat down the show started.

It was not long before we were all in fits of laughter and were promtly warned about what kind of show we were about to expect, language and nudity and a good laugh.

They were right. It did not take long before we were in fits of laughter and wanting and expecting the worse to come. Every act on stage had some reference to something that had happened on the tv in the past 6 mths to a year, everything was mentioned but it was mostly streamed along the political lines. Lennon did not get out of it, Peter Garrett didn't either, nor did most of the politicians actually.

Half time hit us and we decided to stretch our legs and brave the cold of the foyer. This was short lived for me as it was too cold and I headed back inside to get warm again. The second half of the show was about to come. You could not watch this if you did not have a sense of humour I decided. The second half of the show contained quite a bit of nudity, but I can tell you that those people up on stage had some guts and that is all I am about to say about it. I didn't think that that content of the show was as bad as people kept on telling me it was. I will leave you to let your minds wander about that one.

See ya
